When you first start crocheting (or indeed if you’ve been crocheting for ages!) finding a crochet pattern can be really difficult. Which is weird because there are literally THOUSANDS of places to find a crochet pattern but honestly, there’s a lot of crap out there. If you have ever stumbled upon a badly written crochet pattern you’ll know what I mean. I’m not even saying you should always pay for patterns (although in my experience this has always been the best way to avoid frustrating projects) there are some excellent free ones out there but some of them were published years ago by bloggers who have abandoned their blogs, which means there’s no way to get help on your crochet pattern because the author doesn’t blog anymore.
As a hardcore crocheter and crochet teacher, I spend a lot of time looking for patterns and solid pattern resources. All of these recommendations have been tested personally by me or have been recommended by an awesome person who I totally trust. I also haven’t linked to sites that have just one or two crochet patterns – these places are stocked full of awesome stuff.
These resources are for yarn artists who are only crocheters or mostly crocheters. I love looking at knitting stuff but it’s not super useful for people who can’t knit. These are also pattern resources – not crochet blogs where people just show their work. This list also excludes the big free crochet websites that don’t seem to be run by actual crocheters and most of the content belongs to other people. I like to get to know the people who create the designs. These are all makers, bloggers, wonderful crocheters and yarn brands that do good stuff.
Enjoy! Also do let me know if you think I’ve missed anyone.

Oh you’re so welcome! I always find it so hard to find really good pattern sources so I thought I’d just keep a comprehensive list. 🙂
